Father says “not this time” to big cities scholarship and privileges for his palaro bronze medalist son.
In an exclusive interview this morning’s Radyo Ronda Balita at RPN-DXKS, Engr. Pert Tortal, the father of Tennis Bronze Medalist Rupert Ohrelle Uba Tortal said he turned down offers from NCR and Cagayan de Oro for his son to enrol in Junior High School. He will only approved a scholarship offer in big universities when Rupert will be in college.

The grade six pupil of Surigao City Pilot School aimed for gold in tennis single elementary boys during the 2017 Palarong Pambansa in Antique but in the elimination round, he landed for bronze. Davao Region won the gold medal and silver medal to Southern Tagalog region.

Caraga region elementary athletes were billeted at Carit-an Elementary School in the municipality of Patnongon, thirty-five kilometers far from Binirayan Sports Complex in San Jose, Antique. Tortal’s parents decided to rent a pension house which was 6 kilometers away from the tournament venue at San Pedro tennis court.
Rupert is now in Cebu for the Milo Regional Tennis Tournament. He personally thanked his supporters for praying his victory. He intends to enroll Junior High School either in Surigao del Norte or Surigao City National High School this coming June.
